Install and Upgrade FAQsNOTE: You must have OS 10.2 or higher in order to run version 16. Version 16 will NOT work on OS 9 or lower. Q I have installed the update to version 16. When I open the program it prompts me to register the Tax Tables and on the screen there is a customer number entered that is not my customer number. I have entered the registration number and get a message that the code is invalid. What gives? A You need to update your Tax Tables. To do this click past the registration window and open your company. As the program opens if you are prompted to check for updates, click Yes. If you are not prompted to check for updates, once the program opens, go to the Internet menu and select Check for Updates. Just remember that the password that is required is the user password for the computer itself, not a password you may or may not have set up for the payroll program. Q. I upgraded from version 11-14 to version 15-16 and received a message stating the installation was successful. But when I look in my Top Pay folder, I still see the old application and none of the files seem to have been updated. Why is this? ___ALSO...Q I just upgraded from version 11-14 to version 15-16. When I look in my Aatrix program folder in Applications my company is not there like it used to be. How come? A

Your original payroll application folder is not updated. You should Archive the old folder (in Finder, highlight the folder and select File > Create Archive, or else use an application like Stuffit®) and then save to external media for a backup. You can then drag the old payroll application folder to the Trash. HOW TO DRAG & DROP V16 Update (for v15 upgrade or v16 New Install ONLY):
You must drag the Payroll 16 FOLDER--the entire folder--NOT the DMG or CD icon--into your Applications folder. Once the DMG or CD-ROM has been "opened" (by double-clicking), most users will see a Finder window with a colored background, with words and arrows and instructions. The arrows point to a gold colored folder stamped with the Aatrix logo. THIS is what you drag. Do not open the folder and take any files from inside--simply grab the gold folder with the Aatrix logo and drag it into your OS X Applications folder.

Q I still have payroll to do this year and have already installed the Tax Table Update for next year. Have I created a problem? A Tax Tables for the following year should not be installed until AFTER the last payroll has been run for the year. For the Federal, State and any Local Income Taxes that are built into the Aatrix Tax Base, it will not be a problem. It will just mean a little smaller or larger refund when the employee files their individual tax return. IMPORTANT NOTE: The tax updates will update the limit for SS to the limit for NEXT year. This will affect those employees who have already met the upper limit for social security for this current year, If you have employees who have met the social security limit for the current year, you should contact your accountant for guidance. Q Will I be able to get the latest Government Forms for Version 15 on a CD? A No. Updates to the Government Forms and the Forms Viewer Application will be done via the internet only in version 15 and higher. We do recommend using a high speed connection. Dial up will work, it will just take longer to perform the updates.
Q. How do I get an unlock code for my product? A. All product unlock codes are located on MyAatrix.com web site . You will need your E-mail address and customer number to access the web site. Once you've logged in, click the Updates tab. The unlock code is listed with your product download. Q. My unlock code won't work! A. If you are trying to the the v15 update from a CD, you need to select the folder titled For Payroll 15 and then enter the unlock code for the 15.1 update.
Q. The installer just flashes when I try to update to version 15-16, what is going on? A. The user installing the product is not the Administrator. The person who is the administrator is the only user who can install software in the Applications folder. Please refer to Mac Help for more information on this and operating the Macintosh computer. Mac help is located under the Help menu in the Finder. Click here to see some screenshots of locating a topic in Mac Help. Resolution: Another reason that causes the installer to flash is that another user may have downloaded the Update and as a result, all the files are read only or no access. Select the folder for the update and change the Ownership and Permissions to Read and Write and apply to items in the folder. Then the installer will work. To change ownership and permissions:
Q. Why do I get charged a support fee when I call in for help updating? A. Aatrix provides free installation help with every update in the form of accompanying documentation. These documents are located on your CD ROM, or part of the download package and provide step-by-step instructions, tips, and advice for installing, upgrading, and getting started with your software. The latest Payroll Series updates in late March sent instructions with the E-mails that out to each registered user. We also freely provide help online at http://www.documentation.aatrix.com , where user manuals, installation guides, and Frequently Asked Questions are posted and updated live. Our documentation is easy to understand and geared to the average user who has a basic working knowledge of his or her computer. Q. I get a message that the program application and the Defaults ô folder are not in the same location. How do I correct this? A. Check in your User Documents folder for the Aatrix program folder ( Aatrix Top Pay, for example) and verify that there is a Defaults ô˜folder inside. If there is, chances are that File Vault is turned ON. You can verify this under the Security section of your OS X System Preferences. (Click the Preferences icon on the Dock, and then click the Security icon.) File Vault needs to be turned OFF for the payroll program to operate. Q. I get an error type 2 when opening Top Pay 15. What is an error type 2? A. An error of Type 2 is a System Error code associated with OS 9 and earlier operating systems. To correct this problem you will either have to contact Apple or upgrade your operating system to OS X. Please be aware that while Top Pay will work with QuickBooks® 4, there have been upgrades of QB since version 4 was released. We highly recommend that you upgrade to the latest version of QuickBooks® for optimal performance. Q.I have version 14 and purchased the version 15 update. Do I have to install all the updates for the program and tax tables in version 14 before I can install the version 15 upgrade? A. NO. You do NOT have to install anything relating to v14 or earlier. You should always select your install version based on the product and unlock code version given on your invoice!! If your invoice says version 15, then proceed with the Version 15 installation/upgrade. The Unlock Code on your invoice is for Version 15 and YOU WILL GET AN ERROR MESSAGE if you install version 14 updates and try to use a Version 15 Unlock Code for them.
Q. I've installed Top Pay v15 and now it won't post to my QuickBooks® 4! How can I post my payroll information to my Quickbooks®4 program? Important Note: Intuit no longer provides support for QB4. Although Aatrix Top Pay v15 will work with QB4, we strongly recommend you update your QuickBooks® program to the latest version. A. By default, Top Pay 15 has an option called Direct link to QB 5.0 or greater turned on in Program Preferences. You need to turn off this option for earlier versions of QuickBooks®. To do so:
